Job description

Zoox is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Service Platform team within our Ride and Fleet organization. This team plays a critical role in enabling the reliable and scalable operation of our autonomous ride-hailing service by building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure, platforms, and systems.

In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers focused on system reliability, performance, scalability, observability, infrastructure, security, and release processes. You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, partnering closely with engineering teams to build robust, secure, and high-performing services that support the continued growth and operational needs of Zoox's driverless robotaxi fleet.

In this role, you will:

Manage, mentor, and grow a team of individual contributors, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Provide technical guidance, establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of optimization strategies and drive continuous improvement
Manage the allocation of resources within the team, ensuring that projects are staffed appropriately and that team members have the necessary tools and support to succeed
Work with partner teams to deliver tested high quality solution that meets the requirements of client services, as well as ensure smooth integration, deployment

Qualifications

BS / MS in Computer Science or similar degree and/or 10+ years of relevant experience
5+ years Management experience including personnel management, hiring, budget
Experience successfully shipping large-scale backend services/platforms to production
Leading & delivering in fast paced and agile environment, in a highly cross organizational setup
Proficiency in one or more programming languages like Kotlin or Java

Bonus Qualifications

Experience working Dispatch systems, Routes, Maps
Experience in Ride Hail / AV Industry

Employer-disclosed pay range: $230,000 – $315,000 USD per year.

Base Salary Range

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
